A sensor reports an incorrect water level

PLEASE NOTE: This article is only relevant for the homefarm 1.0. With the homefarm 2.0 calibrating the sensor is no longer necessary and also not possible.

If you find that a water level sensor in your homefarm 1.0 is not working correctly, the first step is to check whether it is still mounted properly. Make sure it is fitted behind the metal base plate (see photo).

If the sensor is mounted correctly, you can recalibrate it by following these steps:

First you need to work out which of the three sensors is to be calibrated. There is a corresponding sensor for each plant row, fitted on the back of the metal base plate. The sensor for the top plant row is easy to reach, whereas the sensors for the middle and bottom plant rows are hidden under the white back cover.

  1. Unhook all plant boxes and take the homefarm off the wall
  2. Then hook in the plant box of the relevant plant row and fill it with 700 ml of water. Make sure there are no plants in the plant box during the calibration process. The plants can affect the calibration of the sensor and lead to an error.
  3. Hold the homefarm upright and wait until the water has settled, otherwise the sensor takes distorted readings. Now press the white button on the sensor to calibrate it. The red LED on the sensor should flash several times to indicate that the sensor has been recalibrated.
  4. Now hang the homefarm back on the wall and refill the water up to the max. line.

Please note that the homefarm must be connected to power for calibration.
