Where does parsley actually come from?

Parsley originally comes from the Mediterranean region. Especially in North African countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria), it was widely used due to its intensity. Only later did parsley come to the north. In ancient Greece, parsley was not only seen as a medicinal plant but literally as sacred. Even back then, the many benefits of the plant were highly valued. In today's kitchens, no one wants to do without parsley anymore. It's a must-have for our homefarm

What does parsley taste like?

Why parsley is good for your health

Parsley has several health benefits that we don't want to keep from you.

  1. Vitamins, Minerals, and Trace Elements

Parsley contains vitamins B, C, E, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and more. With this wide range, parsley is an excellent natural food supplement.

  1. Digestion Support

Parsley stimulates digestion. It can relieve bloating and stomach cramps and also prevent constipation. Parsley is particularly recommended as a tea, as it also has a detoxifying effect.

Prevention of Kidney and Bladder Stones

Firstly, as mentioned, parsley has a detoxifying effect. Secondly, it also has a demonstrable diuretic effect. This leads to better flushing of the kidneys and bladder. Thus, pathogens cannot accumulate, and the formation of painful kidney and bladder stones is prevented.

  1. Happy Love Life

This might surprise some: Parsley was used as an aphrodisiac even in ancient times. By promoting blood circulation, especially in the male reproductive organ, parsley therefore also contributes to a happier love life.

So, you see, parsley truly packs a punch. With our urbanhive wall garden, we offer you the opportunity to cultivate your own small herb paradise. This works completely without soil and even if space is limited. Apart from that, urbanfarm convinces with its sustainable and aesthetically pleasing concept.

What varieties are there?

The medicinal parsley we are talking about is leaf parsley. It belongs to the family of umbellifers. It has either flat or curly leaves. Flat-leaf parsley is more intensely flavored and easier to wash, which is why it is preferred by many herb lovers.
Additionally, there are several subspecies such as root parsley or parsley root. Outwardly, it resembles parsnips, but the taste is sweet.

Those who like it even more extraordinary might hit the jackpot with Japanese parsley, Mitsuba. This variety tastes more like celery and is otherwise only related to parsley as an umbellifer.
