Welcome to our practical onboarding magazine, which will help you set up your homefarm.

1. Unpacking the homefarm – Quick and Easy:

 

First, remove the packaging material and accessories. Carefully lift the homefarm out of the box: One hand on the top edge, the other on the bottom edge.

Caution: Do not touch the LED strips!

2. What you need to hang it:

  • Spirit level
  • Drill
  • 6 mm drill bit
  • Hammer
  • Cordless drill
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • 20-30 minutes
  • 1-2 people

3. Suitable location and height:

  • Temperature: Between 16 °C and 25 °C
  • Avoid placing it directly above heaters, as dry heating air can impair plant growth
  • Tip: the top edge of the homefarm should not be higher than 1.80 m


4. Step-by-step instructions for hanging and setting up the homefarm:

4.1. Drilling the holes
Hold the mounting rail against the wall with a spirit level and mark the holes.
The top edge of the homefarm will be 10 cm above the planned rail. Now the marked holes can be drilled.

4.2. Attaching the mounting rail
Carefully hammer the supplied dowels into the holes. Afterwards, the mounting rail can be attached with the screws. As you can see in the picture, the narrow side of the mounting rail points towards the wall.

4.3. Hanging the basic unit of the homefarm
Hang the homefarm on its mounting rail. Then you can insert the three plant boxes and plug the homefarm's power cable into the socket.

4.4. App Setup
Install the urbanhive app on your device. It will guide you through a highlight tour. Then connect your homefarm to the app by following the instructions in the app. The second highlight tour starts as soon as you have inserted your first plants.

4.5. Filling with water
Fill the three plant boxes with water up to the max. line. When the water level is low, the respective LED strip will flash to indicate that water needs to be added or refilled. Don't forget to add the liquid nutrients. To provide the plants with optimal nutrient supply, we recommend always adding the liquid nutrients when starting new growth or refilling the water.

4.6. Inserting plant capsules and microgreens
Now insert the plant capsules and microgreens. Pay attention to the specific insertion instructions provided on the packaging. In the next picture you will find a cultivation recommendation for the starter mix set. This recommendation was created based on numerous cultivation tests and takes into account different growth factors of the plants.

4.7. Placing capsule covers and greenhouses
Now place the white capsule covers on the honeycomb baskets. These will remain on until harvest. Then place the clear greenhouses on top. Remove them after a few days, depending on the growth of the plants. As a rough guide: microgreens about 5 days, salads 5 days, herbs 8 days.

5. How does the stand version work?
You have decided not to hang the homefarm on the wall? No problem. To ensure you can still enjoy the benefits of the homefarm, we have developed the freestanding back panel. The back panel consists of several parts. You attach the wedge bar to the white plate, which is included with the homefarm, and the holes are already marked. So you only need the 3 small screws to attach it. The two long screws are for the oak wood feet, these are inserted on each side and fastened with the screws.
