Power consumption of the homefarm
The homefarm is an affordable way to grow fresh herbs and lettuces right in your own home. With a power rating of 20 watts it has a monthly electricity cost of approx. €3.36 at a lighting time of 16 hours a day.
To calculate the power consumption you can follow these steps:
- Calculate the amount of energy used in watt hours (Wh). In this example that would be 20 watts x 16 hours = 320 Wh.
- Convert the watt hours into kilowatt hours (kWh). 1 kilowatt hour equals 1000 watt hours. In this example that would be 0.32 kWh (320 Wh / 1000).
- Calculate the electricity cost in euros. This example uses an electricity price of 35 cents per kilowatt hour. The monthly consumption is then 0.32 kWh x 30 days x 35 cents/kWh = 336 cents = €3.36.
Please note that this is only an example and that actual power consumption can be influenced by various environmental factors.
In this example the consumption was calculated on the basis of 3x Basic LED (5 W per LED). An Advanced LED uses 15 W.
