Thrips infestation
It is fundamentally important to check your plants regularly for pest infestation. One of the annoying enemies you can encounter in the homefarm is thrips. In this article we'd like to explain how to recognise and combat thrips.
Thrips can be recognised by a few clear signs. Here are the most important ones:
- Silvery patches on the underside of the leaf
- Growth disorders and stunted shoots
- Small brown droppings
If you notice one of these signs on your plant, it is likely that your plant has a thrips infestation.

If you discover a thrips infestation on your plants, it is important to act quickly to prevent it from spreading.
- Unfortunately only one thing helps here: insert a new plant capsule. Thrips larvae can live not only on the surface of the plant but also in the substrate, i.e. inside the plant capsule. That's why cleaning only the surface parts of the plant is not enough. You would risk another infestation.
In summary, thrips are an unpleasant pest. But if you know how to recognise and combat them, you can protect your neighbouring plants from a spreading thrips infestation.
