Growing microgreens

If you think your microgreens are getting mould, don't worry! It is probably just the white cellulose layer that has grown upwards.

This can happen when the microgreens pad was not soaked thoroughly enough during watering. To avoid it, water the microgreen pads so that the white cellulose layer largely dissolves. But be careful, as the seeds can easily come loose under the tap and be washed away.

Tip: Fill a bowl with water and dip the microgreens tray including the pad into it for a few seconds. Alternatively you can hold your hand between the tap and the microgreens pad so that the water runs gently from your hand onto the pad.

You should also put the transparent propagation dome on for the first few days. It creates a more humid climate that benefits the plants and prevents the white cellulose layer from drying out again and growing upwards.

If the white cellulose layer does grow upwards, you can counteract this by watering the pad again briefly after 2-3 days.

If there is too little water, a white layer of cellulose can stick to the microgreens.
